Experience
I attended North Central College, which is where I first started tutoring. I began with the EDGE Structured Study program and later became a TA for the physics department. It was my job to assist physics students with their homework and labs. Between these jobs, I was given the opportunity to help many different students in both physics and math. Being a tutor for these areas really helped increase my own knowledge base of the subject and helped me broaden my skills as a tutor that much more. The more knowledge you have of a topic, the better you are able to convey and explain that knowledge to others. Tutoring has allowed me to learn more about the topics themselves, as well as taught me how to teach using a variety of methods. In addition to tutoring, I enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, video games, soccer, playing the piano, and martial arts. I especially enjoy riding my bicycle through trails and around town. I find that having interests outside of your studies allows you to have an escape so that you can clear your mind and come back refreshed and ready to look at the material from another point of view.
